Day 283: The Sound of Music

Fifty years ago today, the classic film The Sound of Music made it's world premiere. If you haven't seen the movie, stop reading this now and go see it. Based on the classic stage musical and the real life story of the Von Trapp family singers, it's an iconic story with an even more iconic score. It could be the only movie I watch for the rest of my life and that it would be okay. No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old. I can quote most of the dialogue, sing all of the songs, and my mom and I live off of hidden references to it in our daily conversation. It's silly to release it again as a new DVD with the same special features as the 45th anniversary. However, I love how they have enhanced the cover. It's amazing that even fifty years later, the hills are still alive with the sound of music.
